Paid Maternity Leave Campaign

In 2008, marie claire led a campaign to introduce paid maternity leave, which culminated in an article and a rally (which I organised) attended by politicians, advocates and celebrities. The campaign was recognised in the Australian Senate.

Hundreds of readers joined marie claire’s rally carrying placards with slogans that included “Paid Maternity Leave: Time To Deliver”. Thousands more signed petitions, and sent letters to leaders of the main political parties and local MPs agitating for change.

The campaign tapped into a groundswell of support, and two years later, in 2010, paid maternity leave was introduced in Australia.
